Machel is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Metis Global Partners. She leads the
firm’s business strategy efforts as well as the investment team responsible for researching and
managing the firm’s portfolio strategies. Metis Global Partners is a diverse and woman owned
global equity solution provider founded in 2013, currently managing over $3 billion in institutional assets.
Machel’s investment career spans over 30 years, including ten years with Brandes Investment
Partners where she led the quantitative investment team that designed and implemented the investment process used by Metis today. Prior experience includes Lord Abbett, as an Equity Analyst to international and domestic portfolios, as well as institutional investment consulting roles at LCG Associates and Watson Wyatt.
Machel earned an MBA in Investments from the Robinson Business School at Georgia State University (GSU) as well as a BBA in Finance from GSU. Machel currently serves as an advisory board member for The Brandes Center at UCSD, the San Diego Foundation – Black Community Investment Fund, IDAC (Investment Diversity Advisory Council), and WIIIN (Women in Institutional Investments Network). She is a Past President and Board Director of the CFA Society of San Diego, and previously served on the boards/committees of the San Diego Museum of Man as its Treasurer, The San Diego Foundation (Investment Committee) and the San Diego Library Foundation (Finance Committee).
IDAC was launched in February 2020 as a non-profit for investment organizations to share best practices and document progress on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the asset management industry.
